By the time you pick your child up from school, they wouldn’t have eaten for roughly four hours. Having a snack awaiting their arrival would be most appreciated as well keeping their moods and concentration balanced. Some after school snacks are so delicious, that we need to share them with you! The first yummy treat on the spotlight is cheddar and poppy seed crisps. They look exactly like crisps and your child will be bound to eat them without hesitation.
If you have a food processor, pulse the cheddar cheese and egg whites until it goes smooth. Throw in some flour and poppy seeds and keep on pulsing.
Then you split the mixture between two large sheets of grease-proof paper cut to the size of a cookie sheet. Cover each with an additional sheet of paper and roll until paper-thin. Transfer the paper (and dough) to two cookie sheets and freeze until hard for 20 minutes.
Later, fire up the oven to 300 degrees F. Throw the top layer of paper away and bake until golden and crisp, rotating halfway through cooking, 45 to 50 minutes’ total. Leave them to cool, then break them into pieces.
If you haven’t got time for all of that, there is another one of the best after school snacks that will have your child’s mouth-watering. This one is also great for you to prepare because it’s one of those Godsend no-bake recipes.
No-bake granola balls! Delicious. All you have to do is mix 2 Cups Oats, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 Cup chocolate chips and 2 Cups coconut flakes together and add it to 1 Cup Peanut Butter, 1 Cup ground flaxseed, 2/3 Cup honey, 2 teaspoons vanilla. All you have to do is make them into little balls, and store in the fridge. Make more of them, put them in the freezer and have after school snacks for upcoming weeks!
